Integrated Programme For Community Development Project

As we are Indian Red Cross Society, Cuddalore district branch working in six coastal villages under Integrated Programme for community Development, supported by Canadian Red Cross as well as we are doing the need based relief activities and participating & supporting various activities like World Blood Donors Day, Blood Donation Rally, World HIV/AIDS Awareness day, District level learning workshop on Disaster Risk Reduction etc,. in our district. We are giving training to 81 no.of selected village volunteers (Health Promoters ) for knowledge / skills sharing in their villages. The HPs will play a gap filling role between the Govt. health services and their community. All the Health Promoters(HPs) are trained in the field of Community Based First Aid, Mother and Child Health ,HIV/AIDS , Community Based Disaster Risk Reduction and Child protection.

Health

Our entire Health Promoters well managing the day to day first aid needs in their villages. Also we covered 25,000 populations under health messages. We are organizing the Health Camps periodically with the help of Primary Health Centers. Door to Door knowledge dissemination by our Health Promoters in Mother & Child Health, HIV/AIDS, Water and Sanitation, Disaster Management/Disaster Risk Reduction and Child Protection sectors.

Livelihood

We have Six CDG-RL (Community Development Group – Rehabilitation Livelihood) and 118 members in six villages. And we supported three Cargo auto to three women CDG-RLs. The CARGO autos well manage by the women groups. Also supported with 5, 43,500 INR as a grant amount to the groups with the support of Canadian Red Cross. And we are facilitating and linking with Women Development Corporation and received Revolving Fund with 10,000 INR government subsidies to 3 groups.

PRIMARY HEALTH CENTRE & SUB-CENTRES UP GRADATION:

We have done the PHC & Sub-Centers Up gradation assessment. And based on the assessment we have supported the equipments to 03 PHCs & 06 Sub centers like water purifier, fetal Doppler, delivery table with focus lamp, baby cradle, fan, delivery kit and pulse oximeter with the support of Canadian Red Cross.

LEADERS OF TOMORROW – SCHOOL PROGRAMME:

Under this project we covered 12 schools around our 6 project villages with the support of Canadian Red Cross. Through this programme we are developing the knowledge and skills of Teachers and Students in the field of Health, Water and Sanitation, Disaster Management/Disaster Risk Reduction and Humanitarian Values (Child Protection) by various levels of trainings and knowledge dissemination by peer education. We gave First Aid training to Junior Red Cross (JRC) Counselors and supported with 87 no. of First Aid kits. We supported with furniture (1 table + 2 Chairs) to 12 Schools JRC units. We provided 17 Napkin Vending Machines with Sanitary pads to High & Higher Secondary Schools.
